Just say no
by inferno10 on May.09, 2004, under hyper
So I finally was able to bring my best buddy in the whole wide world, Denise, to my house. Only reason she could go there was because my mom was all the way in Michigan. Denise would never be able to goto the house if my mom were there. There’s your stereotypical Filipino mom syndrome.
It’s funny because my brother was planning to cook for his gf Saturday. Thing is, he didn’t expect me coming home, so there wasn’t going to be enough food. While Larry was at work, I picked up Denise cause she was dying of boredom. Dunno why she tagged along w/ me, since I’m the most boring person in the world. So we goto Albertsons since I don’t have a Costco card and I look nothing like my sister, as I am a guy. I was planning on just making my mashed potatoes and probably some kind of steak, but she convinced me to get turkey breasts instead, which she though was chicken. I get everything I need for my improvised part of the dinner I inadvertantly crashed and head back home.
I always notice how people say our house is big. After all these years, I think our place isn’t that big as it used to be. The tall roof in the living room is pretty much what gives the image of grandeur in our house, since it echoes. Anyway, I give Denise the quick tour of the house. She goes to my room and says she wanted to find my “stash” of *ahem* “movies” ^_^. We would play that game later because I had to get the food started. Liza arrived at the house just like 5 minutes after we arrived, so we all got started with cooking our dishes. Larry came in later and started his tediously prepared dishes. It’s funny; we all had our own dish to prepare. In the end, we had a meal fit for a non-existant holiday.
- A full slow-boiled lobster with lobster-infused butter sauce
- An oven-roasted hen stuffed with a creamy mushroom stuffing
- Three pan-seared turkey breast filets
- Creamy oven-roasted garlic mashed potatoes
- Oven-roasted mushrooms stuffed with a cream sauce
- Creamy crab wontons deep fried in sesame-seed oil
- Two pecan-pies (converted from a pecan muffin recipe)
As if more unexpected guests wouldn’t arrive, my sister’s family made a stopover too. The kids seemed to like Denise. When we went upstairs to play “find the stash,” the kids went upstairs too and ruined our plans for the longest time. Later they finally left, and she couldn’t find the stash. I had to show her because of her ruthless tickling (I’m ticklish above my waist apparently). So I showed her some of my collection. Not much of a large collection I have, but apparently better than what she had. Pretty much did nothing else after that. So much for my homework time.
Today I went back to SLO. Before leaving though, I spent a good three hours studying at Starbucks. I love going there now; there’s always some hot asian chick studying. There’s nothing more sexy than a sight like that. Too bad it looked like she had a bf at another table or something. =( But having eyecandy while I study is always a good thing.
On the way to SLO, I had to pick up one of my roomies Justin. It was cool since Santa Clara was on the way to SLO anyway, so I had no objection to giving him a lift back to school. At least that way I wouldn’t feel sleepy during the drive. Think I transferred my sleepiness over to him because partway during the trip, he fell asleep. I never thought it was actually possible to fall asleep in the Jeep while it’s moving (especially on the freeway), but somehow he did. I was too doped up on caffeine from my caramel frappucino to feel sleepy, and still am.
Think I made a new speed record with my Jeep on the freeway: 95 mph. That’s just 5 miles from reaching the max speed listed on the speedometer. Surprisingly the engine sounded fine at that speed. I did not want to risk going any faster. Good thing I didn’t too, because there were one too many close calls with CHP (luckilly all the cop cars I saw were on the other side of the freeway). It’s always good to follow a speeding car rather than lead a pack of speedsters.
Yawn, maybe I should go finish my statics hw to wear off the caffeine effects.
Killed two birds with one stone…

No, I didn’t kill any birds. I was referring to two finals I just completed today. I got through the two hardest finals this quarter, and I HATED them. I’m glad I’m done with them. BOLLOCKS to those finals! Begone!
Anyway, I’m gonna try and get some sleep. Not sure if that will happen; I’m still feeling a bit wired from the frappacino. Here’s the pictures of the day:

Testing

Had to install a module, testing if I can post in w.bloggar again…
Oh, I forgot to mention that I added another link to my network. It’s another Cal Poly student’s site, and he does comics about life in his tower. It’s pretty good. Take a look at Zach’s site.
