What comes to mind when you hear “69″ and “30″?

For me, I think 99. It’s 99 degrees outside right now. I’m dying! And I had to walk to Cerro Vista in this heat for a call I can’t even complete since the person I was going to help wasn’t even home! So I’m chillaxin in my room for a bit before I walk back to the office. I want to go to the beach soo bad right now and just get swept away by the ocean water. Instead I’m stuck here sweating my life away. Bollocks!

Ok, this f-ing heater/fan problem is really starting to peeve me off. WHY can’t Tyler see that while it is 69 degrees outside our room with the sun going down, our room is STILL 20 degrees hotter for some odd reason, and the “fan” was on the whole entire time. I’m sweating bullets here! I really really really really think setting the thermostat to COOL and turning it on just turns on the heater. The apartment does not have AC, and the stupid apartment manual says do just leave the thermostat at HEAT on AUTO. Baka!!!
I should go down to the community center and find out once and for all what COOL does.
EDIT: GRRR…I just missed eating at Firestones today. >=0

It tastes like… burning!

So I thought I was going to make some creamy chicken with mushrooms tonight. Only problem was, I didn’t have cream and butter. So I decided to just whip up a completely random dish. I got out the frozen chicken, soaked it in chicken broth, put a crapload of garlic powder on it, pepper, salt, this red powder I’m assuming is red curry powder, barbeque seasoning, and all-purpose seasoning. I got out the frozen veggies and let it defrost with the chicken. While everythign defrosted, I minced a couple cloves of garlic. When the chicken was ready, I put some oil into a pan and put the garlic in to start frying. I added in the chicken, thinking I would be ending up with fried chicken. The damn chicken must have been still frozen inside, because after a while, there was quite a bit of water simmering the chicken. With fried chicken out of the way, I just continued to season my concoction with the red powder and pepper. A nice red sauce was forming, so I thought I might make a thick sauce later, and got out the starch. When the chicken looked fairly cooked, I added in a bunch of chicken broth to form the sauce, and added in mushrooms (which I love in everything). Later I added in some potato cubes. I had to add in more chicken broth to have enough liquid to boil the potato. Once that was going, I added in the thawed veggies to top the dish.
Overall, this dish immediately reminded me of my friend Deepak, because of his curry vegetables that he made for us this one time. I could swear that my dish was as spicy as his. I think I overspiced the dish with the red powder though, because I’m sweating cats and dogs while eating this, and my mouth is on fire! It really tastes like an authentic Indian dish though, and it’s not bad at all.
Anyway, off to Jamba Juice to get something to quench this fire in my mouth!
And He said, ‘Let there be air!’

And Jason flipped the switch to the air unit on. And all was good.
We finally figured out why we never had any air circulation in our apartment. Since the beginning, our apartment doubled as a huge oven to cook its inhabitants. Just today it was like 90+ inside with windows open! Now we will see what happens. Why wasn’t air circulating before? The stupid light switch inside the furnace room wasn’t even turned on. So we finally got the guts to flip the switch and see what happened. I personally thought the unit would explode or something, or electrocute me. But I guess I was wrong.
Now we just need to see if the air we are circulating will either cool us or cook us even more. Someone want to baste me?

Man today was warm like no other in the Bay Area. One might expect high 80s to mid 90s in San Luis Obispo, but you don’t see these temperatures often in South San Francisco. It was so hot today, even the act of sitting down caused me to sweat (well, maybe being out of shape is the reason for that). It felt good to goto Starbucks and have one of those tazoberry frappuccinos. Today was just one of those days to sit back, live the SLO life, and not worry about working.
While chillin at Starshizzle, I decided to play one of my favourite games: passerby lookalikes. In this game, you look at passerbys and try to find a resemblance to people you know. Today I found a weird guy that resembled my old high school english teacher, Mr. Dalton. I’m glad this dude wasn’t really him though, cause he was acting all weird. I wouldn’t want to be in a dark alley with this guy. Anyway, I also saw a guy that looks like a really old Garth from Wayne’s World. It’s a really fun way to kill time in your head if you’re bored.
Here are the pics of the day. First we have the guy I thought resembled Mr. Dalton. Second is a picture of Nala, my brother’s friend Ken’s cat, sleeping on another friend’s hat. In the background is Ernesto, another friend, sleeping:
