Belated New Years Party Pics

by inferno10 on Jan.04, 2005, under energetic

The New Years Extravaganza at The Octopus Lounge went well. We didn’t fill it to the 130 capacity we were hoping for, but the turnout of 90 wasn’t too shabby. I would have enjoyed the night more if I was able to drink that night, but NOOOO…I had to be the DD for the evening. In 3 months, I expect the favor to be made up when I’m piss drunk on my birthday…

Anyway, here’s a few photos from the extravaganza:

Liza, Nina, someone, Jackie? Pretty nice turnout

Can’t wait for my thermodynamics class tomorrow. For the lecture material, you say? No! For the pretty girl that is in the class.

Little House on the Cul de Sac

by inferno10 on Apr.14, 2004, under energetic

So we checked out the primary house today. We arrived the same time as another group, and they dressed up. Would dressing up give you a better shot of getting the house? I hope not. The house was small, but quaint. The landlord would be living in a building in the same lot, so it’d be kind of weird. But the land is flat, which is a plus for biking.

House status:
1) 3BR 2BA $1650/$2300 – saw house – submitted applications
2) 3BR 2BA $1650/$2500 – owner wants us to start renting now
3) 3BR 2BA $negotiable – still in the queue
4) 3BR 1BA $1350/$1500 – will call owner later.

Starsky and Hutch

by inferno10 on Mar.07, 2004, under energetic

I’m not a real fan of 70′s remakes, but this movie moved up a notch in my book. Ben Stiller was really hilarious in this movie, although sometimes overdoing it. I bet the director of Old School did this movie, because there were so many characters from that movie in there, even the singer! There never was a dull moment in the movie, and the humor kept flowing in. I especially loved the part where Starsky was putting about to put his gun down, then did a cheesy move in an attempt to hit a bad guy, but hit his chief instead. And the actor who played the chief really made the stereotypical pissed-off boss a humorous one. This one is a must-see for laughs, and to see Carmen Electra make out with a guy AND girl.

And now back to my regularly scheduled shower.

Days until my birthday: 9

Memories worth $300

by inferno10 on Aug.30, 2003, under energetic

I sold my saxophone. I feel empty, but I don’t know why. I stopped playing it a year ago. It’s been gathering dust all that time. So when the time came, I decided I could part with it for the money. It was amazing how I almost got scammed for my sax.

Bob and I first went to Bronstein’s to try and sell it there, but the owner was “busy”. Guess they didn’t trust me. One of the workers told me to come back on Friday, which I would later.

So we went to that one music shop in Serramonte. Bob didn’t go in, because he’s always had bad experiences at that store. So I asked the lady if they buy instruments. Apparently they only buy American-made instruments, since they had to call someone to see where my sax was made. It was Made in China. So, she offered me $50 for it. Fifty bucks. I was desperate for money, but not THAT desperate!

So I waited until Friday. After the $50 offer, I didn’t feel like going back to Bronstein’s. But my dad came home early and wanted to sell it, so I decided why not? Once again, Mr. Bronstein was out at the moment, but would return in 15 minutes. So we just waited around Grand Avenue. Good thing we did, because we found a bike shop. I was trying to find replacement parts for my Jeep’s bike rack. Unfortunately the owner didn’t sell my brand, but he referred us to a place that could have them. That was another adventure for later that day.

Back at Bronstein’s, the owner was finally there and looked at my Jean Erik (my sax’s name). He said I kept it in good condition (which I do to most of anything I own). The only major cosmetic damage to the instrument was scratches on the bottom-left part of the bell from my marching uniform. Even with that scarring, he offered to buy it for, get this: $300! He said I could have even gotten more if I sold it to a private party! I was estatic! Those mall shop owners tried to scam me with $50! I kept my poker face on, and waited for my dad’s response.

“Sold!”

I should have gotten $300. I probably would have gotten $300 if I waited at the store when I went with Bob. But I didn’t. So my dad took a share of the profit. I ended up with $200. $200 is good, but $300 would have paid off my bill.

I think I can, I think I can

by inferno10 on Jul.25, 2003, under energetic

For the past two weeks, I’ve started jogging around Lake Merced. A couple reasons have actually motivated me to get off my lazy butt and start jogging. The main reason was that I was getting slow and heavy. I recently reached the 150 pound mark, which in my eyes is too heavy. It definitely showed when my brother and I began playing tennis again. My sluggish performance in tennis finally sparked the intention to jog. So I started to jog…and sucked at it. My first run resulted in barely making it around the short half of the lake. I was out of shape then, and I also overpushed it then. Since then, I’ve been able to jog/walk around the entire lake, a 5 mile trip. Pacing behind someone else really gets me far. Hopefully I’ll be able to just jog the entire path by the time I return to Cal Poly.

I jog Lake Merced on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (usually) around 3:45PM to 5:15PM. Feel free to join! I’m jogging today too, and I need a partner to pace with.

Here are some pics taken while at Lake Merced:
