I had a pretty quiet weekend. Instead of drinking and trying to find the little bits of Mardi Gras left in this city, I spent most of my weekend growing grass. Not even the good kind of grass either, just plain lawn grass. It’s friggin hard work to get the soil ready. I spent, like, four hours straight raking dead leaves that died – who knows how many months ago – from the front yard. I ended up filling our yard waste bin with just the front yard crap. The side-yard will probably fill up another 2 bins with dead leaves. Stupid pine tree.

Other than that, nothing really interesting happened for me. The only thing worth noting is the Amgen Tour of California bike race that passed by SLO on Friday. All I got to see there was one quick burst of bikers. After that, I waited like 30 minutes hoping to see another pack of bikers so I can take a more dramatic picture after finding a good spot, but alas, only two bikers came by and then a bunch of police. Then it was over. Bummer. Click the two pics to see larger versions. Those were about the only interesting shots I got.

Do you have parent(s) who constantly watch you like a hawk when you try to assert some independence? My mom is on my case now that I can drive my own car. But I bet she’s really concerned because I’m hanging out with a girl. Oh no! A girl! I guess she doesn’t trust me in that area yet. But now I’m seeing how annoying having a cell phone can be. At least I don’t have a trackable GPS or video camera in my car for her to watch. I think her latest attempt to keep me at bay was to arrange my sister to take me with her to someone’s birthday party today. Now I hope I don’t end up having to follow some itinerary set up by her.

In other news, we dropped off Larry at SFO yesterday. He’s going to tour Europe for a couple weeks. Wish I could do something like that for summer. Anyway, I’m sure life for me will be pretty boring for those two weeks, since I usually go around with him. Maybe I could just chill with Denise, if my mom doesn’t keep getting on my case.

I think I figured out the relationships in the RadioShack cell-phone commercial featuring Vanessa Williams, Ving Rhames, and Rick Fox. Ving and Vanessa are husband and wife, while Rick Fox is Vanessa’s secret lover. Fox visits Vanessa while Ving is not at home in the RadioShack commercials, so they’re probably making monkey love while Ving is working like a dog. That bastard! How could Vanessa do this to her television commercial husband?!? I hope Teri Hatcher doesn’t do the same to Howie Long…

Post delayed due to problems with MovableType.

Since today was the day before class started, I decided that I would try and get some work done. I passed playing tennis today for finishing unpacking and getting my books for my classes this quarter. I got all my clothes unpacked (pretty much a whole crapload of shorts and a fresh injection of boxer shorts…phasing out tighty whities ^_^), but the latter task never got accomplished. The main reason is because the friggin mustanginfo server is down. I don’t usually get a list of my classes until the day before, which is today. But since the server is down, I can’t see my classes, which is VERY bad. I have classes tomorrow, and I don’t even know when or where they are! I got to wake up early tomorrow and complain to ResNet about this. Heads will roll if I miss my class because of their faulty servers.

So, not being able to get my books, I was extremely bored. Therefore, to pass time, I decided to start the design of one of my homemade fireworks for the 4th. Yeah, I was that bored. So bored, I made a paper mockup of an F-117 stealth fighter. It’s not close, but it’s pretty cool looking. God I must have been so insanely bored to make this:
