Memories worth $300

I sold my saxophone. I feel empty, but I don’t know why. I stopped playing it a year ago. It’s been gathering dust all that time. So when the time came, I decided I could part with it for the money. It was amazing how I almost got scammed for my sax.
Bob and I first went to Bronstein’s to try and sell it there, but the owner was “busy”. Guess they didn’t trust me. One of the workers told me to come back on Friday, which I would later.
So we went to that one music shop in Serramonte. Bob didn’t go in, because he’s always had bad experiences at that store. So I asked the lady if they buy instruments. Apparently they only buy American-made instruments, since they had to call someone to see where my sax was made. It was Made in China. So, she offered me $50 for it. Fifty bucks. I was desperate for money, but not THAT desperate!
So I waited until Friday. After the $50 offer, I didn’t feel like going back to Bronstein’s. But my dad came home early and wanted to sell it, so I decided why not? Once again, Mr. Bronstein was out at the moment, but would return in 15 minutes. So we just waited around Grand Avenue. Good thing we did, because we found a bike shop. I was trying to find replacement parts for my Jeep’s bike rack. Unfortunately the owner didn’t sell my brand, but he referred us to a place that could have them. That was another adventure for later that day.
Back at Bronstein’s, the owner was finally there and looked at my Jean Erik (my sax’s name). He said I kept it in good condition (which I do to most of anything I own). The only major cosmetic damage to the instrument was scratches on the bottom-left part of the bell from my marching uniform. Even with that scarring, he offered to buy it for, get this: $300! He said I could have even gotten more if I sold it to a private party! I was estatic! Those mall shop owners tried to scam me with $50! I kept my poker face on, and waited for my dad’s response.
“Sold!”
I should have gotten $300. I probably would have gotten $300 if I waited at the store when I went with Bob. But I didn’t. So my dad took a share of the profit. I ended up with $200. $200 is good, but $300 would have paid off my bill.
